OB Cliff Diver at Pirate's Cave

Ocean Beach has managed to retain its unique spirit and laid-back attitude, due in part to its secluded location between the San Diego River and the hills of Point Loma.  Local residents protect their small-town atmosphere and stand guard against invasion by chain stores and restaurants, favoring their myriad independent shops and eateries.

Dog Beach is a local favorite where man and best friend can enjoy the waves together.  At the mouth of the Harbor Channel there’s plenty of beach to enjoy games of fetch or tug, or just giving chase.  This off-leash area is almost always busy with dogs and their humans alike.  As with many such areas, users must rely on the responsibility of others’ keeping their pets under control and out of trouble.
