Cardiff Highway 101

Coastal Cardiff by the Sea hugs the hillside just north of the San Elijo Lagoon and enjoys a panoramic view of the Pacific.  Taking its name from Cardiff in Wales, Cardiff by the Sea is the epitome of the small, picturesque coastal community.  Cardiff Reef, at the mouth of the San Elijo Lagoon, is a famed surfing hot spot.

Cardiff extends south from Old Encinitas until it reaches the shores of Solana Beach. The areas oceanfront  restaurants are always packed, and the nearby San Elijo State Campground sells out 6-7 months in advance. The San Elijo State Beach offers superior access to the beach and surfing, as well as paved walking & cycling paths along the top of the bluff.

Residents lucky enough to call Cardiff-by-the-Sea home, enjoy unobstructed views of the Pacific Ocean as Hwy 101 spans bluff & sand.  Many homes are situated on the hillsides to the east of Hwy 101. Nothing really to block ones view, just a campground, the beaches and a smattering of restaurants.
