San Diego RiverFest

The 7th Annual San Diego River Days Festival concludes this Sunday with a party at Qualcomm Stadium, and you’re invited!  Spanning May 8 -16, River Days welcomes the community to celebrate our most precious resource, straight from the source – with events as varied as the 52 miles of the San Diego River and its park & trail system.  After six years of planned events, hikes & volunteer opportunities, this is the first year that River Days will culminate with a (free!) Festival, including the RiverFest 5k & 1k Fun Run, Outdoor Recreation Festival, and Artist Village, with a climbing wall, live music, and other family-friendly activities.

River Days 2010 consists of 40 activities throughout the week, from the top of the San Diego River near Julian to the Ocean Beach, with river cleanups, hikes, & bike rides leading up to Sunday’s RiverFest.  If you prefer to enjoy the River Park in its natural setting, there are still plenty of activities planned along the  river on Saturday the 15th. Sunday’s celebration at the Qualcomm Stadium Practice Field will last from 9 am to 3 pm.  The 5k RiverFest Run & 1k Kid Run will benefit efforts to create the San Diego River Trail and Park.

What’s there: live music, free food from local restaurants, green living & solar displays, an awesome plant sale, and activities for the whole family!
