Mardi Gras

“Laissez les bons temps rouler!”

Gaslamp Quarter’s popular Mardi Gras Celebration paying homage to Fat Tuesday (the last gasp of raucous celebration before the staid season of Lent) is back, and promises to be bigger this year than ever. We all know that San Diego loves a good party. Billed as ‘the best Mardi Gras celebration west of the Mississippi’, this is one party not to be missed!

(Let the good times roll!)

On Tuesday, February 16th, the Gaslamp Quarter will be celebrating from 6 PM to midnight with parades, live music & street performers. Restaurants & clubs all get in on the fun. This year there’s the E Street Dance-off, the lady DJs spinning at the Candy Factory on F Street, retro rolling antics at G Street Skate Fever, and the jaw-dropping acrobatics & feats that will be part of the Market Street Cirque performances.  The J Street Bayou Ballyhoo will add some soul to the proceedings, and Carnivale Alley will feature games to raise money for local charities.  One ticket covers your entry to the Gaslamp Quarter’s festivities, but only ages 21 and up will be admitted.

Looking for some merriment for all ages?  Little Italy will be hosting their 7th Carnevale tonight, February 13th, from 5 PM to 9 PM on India between Hawthorn & Cedar Streets, with the help of more than 21 local businesses.  Upon arrival, you’ll need to pick up your ‘Passaporto di Carnevale’. In it you’ll find times and locations of entertainment throughout the evening, as well as a list of all participating businesses. After you visit each one & have your passport stamped, you can enter to win a “Day in Little Italy,” consisting of prizes donated by a select group of the participating host businesses.  Get a head start on collecting stamps in your Passaporto by attending the Little Italy Mercato on Saturday, February 13th morning from 9 AM – 1:30 PM.
