Author: Jocelyne , February 24th, 2010

Comic-Con leaving San Diego? Say it isn't so!

“Can’t read my poker face…”

Comic-Con is a San Diego favorite and convention revenue bonanza.  Drawing sell-out crowds for the last several years, Comic-Con has grown from its once humble beginnings in the basement of the US Grant Hotel almost 40 years ago, to an event that draws a capacity crowd of 126,000.

Fans and would-be superheroes eat, play & stay in our fine city for one stellar weekend of costume wearing, star sightings, anime meet ups, media promotion events, and oh yes, comics. Are they set to don their capes and fly off into the night sky in 2012?

If you’re a regular on the waterfront in San Diego, you’ll remember the days when the BMW ORACLE Racing trimaran rested in the marina located near the Convention Center.  She left us last December and headed to Valencia, Spain, for final preparations for the America’s Cup Race.

Fresh & New – San Diego Farmers Markets

Author: Susi , February 20th, 2010

Farmers Market veggies

“Sometimes it’s good to be fresh!”

It’s all the rage in San Diego – haute cuisine is going slow, and featuring local produce and in-house crafted foods.  Think the Linkery, Whisknladle & Prepkitchen, Terra & Arterra.  These restaurants are sure to spark your taste for the finer things on your own table, and why not?  You can pick up an amazing variety of local foods, as close as your own neighborhood Farmers Market!

San Diego is blessed with an endless growing season.  Even in February, you can find fresh navel oranges, lemons, avocados, kumquats, strawberries, cauliflower, asparagus, artichokes, rhubarb, tangerines, tangelos, carrots, celery, cabbage, peas, beets, cherimoyas, guavas, mushrooms, eggs, fruit, nuts, lettuce, greens, & honey in a local farmer’s market booth. Gotta love the endless choices!

San Diego’s Super Bowl Party Breakdown

Super Bowl XLIV Cutting Board

Super Bowl XLIV is this Sunday, February 7th. None of your friends picked up the torch and announced a party at their place. You know you don’t want twenty friends letting loose in your own living room. So why don’t you leave the chili cheese dip in the jar, skip the pigs-in-a-blanket, and treat yourself to a full-service experience?

These fine San Diego establishments invite you to join them, with as many of your closest friends you can coax onto public transit or cram into a designated driver’s chariot.  With kick-off happening just before 3:30 pm, most are beginning the festivities around noon.  Get your rest, you’ll need it for this full-contact day of fun!
