Theater, dance, & symphonic performances, together with theatrical training programs and community groups are joining into the frenzy of the 2009 Free Night of Theater!
Choose from approximately 13 different live performances at a variety of dates and times throughout the month. Locations include La Jolla, Coronado & downtown San Diego. Ranging from Shakespearean Sonnets and Mozart’s Requiems, to a brand new adaptation of August Strindberg and a timely Zombie Prom thriller, this exciting annual event invites new audiences of all interests.
Over 75,000 tickets will be given out absolutely free across the country in over 120 cities!

Beginning just four years ago, 150+ theater companies located in Austin, Philadelphia and San Francisco initiated the Free Night of Theater, with 8,000 audience members viewing over 120 performances on a single night. In just a few years, the event has spread across the country with the goal of bringing new spectators to the world of theater & live performances. In 2008, 650 theaters in more than 120 cities shared more than 65,000 free tickets to 1,700 performances. Definitely a hot ticket!
Theatre Communications Group, the coordinating sponsor, is a nationwide organization of non-profit theaters that works to coordinate & support the efforts of individual organizations, as well as study & support the growth of new audiences.
