We’ve been counting the days til June 12,  (that’s tomorrow!) when everyone’s favorite, the San Diego County Fair takes place at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. With concerts, midway rides, home, hobby, craft and livestock exhibits,  competitions, and sinfully out there fair food… is 22 days enough to fit it all in? Uh, no!

Past American Idols Kelly Clarkson, David Archuleta, and David Cook entertain along with favorites from across the generations.  Loretta Lynn, The B-52’s, Melissa Etheridge, Bret Michaels…  What other venue gets this kind of diversity?  See local upstarts compete in Musicpalooza, where online voting will select the top three acts. The final round is July 3, when the winners share the stage with Joan Jett & the Blackhearts.

For the budget conscious, San Diego County Fair Season Passes are available just through the end of today for only $22.  When you consider a single day adult admission is $13, it’s easy to see the benefit!

No season pass? Remember $2 Tuesday on June 16.  These special discount tickets are available exclusively at Albertsons.  On the same day, kids 12 and under are admitted free!

“Uh, one funnel Cake, please”

Every Tuesday, food vendors will have special $2 food samples available at most locations. What, you’re not into deep fried Twinkies, funnel cakes or  deep fried donuts stuffed with chicken?  You can bring your own food and beverages (with restrictions) Designated picnic areas are available and located on the Fair map.

Save money on parking by using the free Horsepark Satellite Lot located at the corner of Via de la Valle & El Camino Real, east of I-5. Free shuttle buses run every day of the Fair from this lot to the O’Brien Gate. On weekends & July 3, additional free lots will be available with shuttle service.

North County Transit District shuttles are available from the Solana Beach Coaster Station to the Fair’s West Gate.  With your transit ticket, a discounted admission fee is available.
